| SCC International debut album review June 2004 BY: Christer Sjöblad 4 hats (5 hats is the best you can get!) A new artist makes her first steps in the business. Stephanie is from San Antonio, Texas. She has a background with influences from soul, country and Tex-Mexicana, but though the mix still is able to create her own style. On this CD you get 12 songs - all written by Stephanie. Sometimes though with a little help from other songwriters. She shows a big mixture on her record, everything from the excellent country 4/4 shuffle "God Loves It When We Dance", the ballad "Over The Borderline" and the Mexican influence of "La Reina de Los Angeles" are included. Actually there isn´t a single really bad track on this CD. Though Stephanie has written all the songs she gives us a mix and you never get a song that sounds the same as any other on the record, which you often get when a artist writes all the material. This one instead grows for every listen. A record I can truly recommend and especially for you who like a little Mexican influence. |
